film study: colour and lighting

 

When we first see the real world in Coraline (the first picture) we can see that everything looks washed out and faded and the artificial lighting isn't that good it creates a dim green light making it look like a not very nice place to stay  

But when we see the other world (second picture) it looks like a really nice place to stay with brighter lighting still artificial lighting though, but it seems like a more welcoming place to be the walls and draws aren't faded or washed out they look like they have been freshly painted everything looks warm 

Soon the other world begins to deteriorate after the other mother offers the buttons to Coraline the colours begin to get really vivid greens making people start to feel unsettled the other world begins to fall apart 

But the real world after the resolution (the fourth picture) is looking warm and natural seems more inviting has a more inviting feeling to it its bright but not to bright for it to feel natural

what is a leader

 What is a leader a leader is a person who 

• Takes responsibility

•  Is empathetic 

• Caring 

• Always takes action

• Does what's best for their country

Jacinda Ardern is a what i would say is a good leader especially during the covid pandemic she took action straight away with the lockdowns and all the different covid levels meaning did what was best for her country

s: In Coraline, camera angles are often used effectively

e: for example a close up shot is used to show that Coraline feels annoyed at her mum                                                                                                      

x: this shows that Coraline doesn't have the best relationship with her mum

x: the director has done this to show that in the other world the other mother and father would have time for Coraline

x: this works well with the lighting cause it shows that the real world has bleak colours and that the other world will have bright colours

y: this can be compared to when we meet the other mother where the colours are brighter and the other mother is at the front of the shot so that our focus is on the other mother
